The General Idea

Laparoscopy is a?way of operating inside of the body using?small incisions using a laparoscope.?A laparoscope is a wand-like tool that connects to a tiny camera. The camera sends pictures to a video screen.
Many urinary tract conditions can be treated with this type of surgery. Such as conditions of the kidneys, adrenal glands, testicles and prostate.

What will the doctor do?
This Before the procedure begins you will be given general anesthesia to make you sleep. An IV and a catheter to drain the bladder during surgery.

Three to five small incisions will be made in your abdomen,?through which the laparoscope and other surgical tools are inserted. Your abdomen will then be inflated with harmless gas.?


Are there any possible risks or?complications?
Yes, they include the following:

  1. Need to convert to traditional open surgery
  2. Injury to surrounding organs
  3. Infection
  4. Bleeding
  5. Blood clot in the lung (Pulmonary embolism)
  6. Stroke or?heart attack
